Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a donut pan, or line a baking sheet with parchment paper if using donut cutters.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, 1.5 tsp cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

  3. 3

In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, apple cider, melted butter, maple syrup, and vanilla extract.

  4. 4

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 5

Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full, or pipe the batter.

  6. 6

Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

Let the donuts cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

  8. 8

While the donuts cool, prepare the glaze. In a medium bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until smooth. Stir in the remaining 1 tsp cinnamon.

  9. 9

Dip the cooled donuts into the glaze, letting any excess drip off. Place them back on the wire rack to allow the glaze to set.
